Twinklight: Elijah Part 1

I thought I’d go ahead and post some exclusive photos from the film during the edit. Currently the computer is rendering for another 2 hours, so I wanted to some time to give you a sneak peek at Ethan Storm’s character, Elijah. This particular set of photos involves Ethan Storm’s character, Elijah. Elijah is the beginning of all vampires in regard to this film. He turned Edmund, which is where our story begins for Edmund. In part 1 of my blog, the scene takes place back in WWI in an army tent we constructed out of some canvas, poles, lanterns ammo boxes and other misc. items. We treated the canvas with some paint to dirty it up and age it a bit. This was actually only a corner set within our vampire set which came out very nicely. The lanterns were all real, fire lit and created an awesome setting for this scene. We didn’t have a hospital bed, so we used our massage table. I really wanted the lighting to be dramatic throughout the film, so I decided to use hot film lights instead of my cool lights I typically use. They give a warmer look, lots of shadows and bright light, which is great. I used white foam core to soften lights when needed as seen in the photo above. Simply directing the light towards the foam core bounced the light nicely onto the actors giving a perfect exposure. I filmed this in 1080p, 24fps. I can’t begin to express how amazing the quality came out with this film. This is the closest to real film I’ve ever come. I’ve always been eager to step the quality up a notch, and proudly say, I’ve achieved that here with Twinklight. It is a shame there isn’t a market for Adult Rated BluRays, because this film on BluRay would be fucking amazing! We used stage blood for our blood effects, veneer caps for the fangs, and contacts for their eyes. I originally wanted to do this in post, but I’m really glad I didn’t. The fangs suited each actor that used them, looked very authentic and scary. The eyes, as seen here with Ethan, just spooky if you ask me. Couldn’t have asked for a better result. To dirty up Edmund in this scene we used chocolate syrup, so Krys Perez was technically finger licking good throughout this scene. Ethan did a pretty good job with his part. His body and face were a bit more hair than I wanted, but after reviewing the footage, I’m glad we kept Ethan in his natural state. It played much better with his character, and in my opinion put him into a more mature look, taking him way out of the Twink category. His part wasn’t too big, but was a key role in Edmund’s history, as well as another part of the movie you’ll have to wait to see unfold. This movie was shot with the intention of filming a sequel to the movie, as you’ll soon see. It’s 3:00am, that’s my cue to hit the sack. So I’ll post part two later tomorrow. Cheers, Afton
